It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...
(For those of you who know him - just imagine Mr Sutton saying that...Alan Rickman eat your heart out)
Anywho...eonugh randomness (procrastination is a curse...I'm sure it says that in the Bible somewhere...maybe I paraphrase slightly...maybe I imagine it...FOCUS!!!!!) OK. To explain the title: no I'm not coming over all literary and philosophical, it just completely sums up my day. I had one of the funnest days I've had for a very long time, but also had one of the saddest.
Let's start with the good - which, once again, involves my St John's Cru. Overslept (again) (but this time it was John's fault coz he kept me talking on MSN until...*ahem* quite late) so Lani had to come pick me up, except Leah was visiting, so she was actually driving, and them being them meant they were listening to classical music, so the first thing I heard this morning was Jupiter from The Planets, which was nice (Yes, this is gonna be a blog of firsts - many public declarations of things about me EXCEPT THE ONE WHICH MATTERS THE MOST) (more of which to follow) But to return to the good part of the day...the usual loving being at St Johns-ness aside, it was just nice to be out with my friends after being grounded by my lovely Lani-girl for the good of my health on Thursday. Hungry Horse for lunch (had steak...Mmmm!!) and then Tom Page and Chris decided that it might be fun to play Frisbee...so we did. For two hours outside Founders, and it was so much fun. *Ahem* I mean, it was fun to watch them playing whilst I sat warmly wrapped up not running around so as not to make my asthma even worse than it is at the moment...yeah right, whatever. The only thing that stopped me going all out was the fact that I was wearing my black gypsy skirt, which kinda got in the way...lol. Then I had to go and prepare and serve the Mulled Wine and Mince Pies at the Kings Chamber Orchestra concert at St Johns...which was soooooooo much fun. Except that (in another wierd paradox) it made me all nostalgic for home and the school Carol Concerts at St Peters, but made me sad that I won't be at St Johns for Christmas with all my uni people :( Strange how my mind works sometimes...
And to get to the bad bit. I was going to have THE best Christmas present for my parents EVER (you'd have to either know them or at least understand what they believe to get this next bit), which I've been thinking about for a very long time. On Friday, I FINALLY got round to talking (for that read emailing) Tim and Mark about wanting to get baptised. And when I spoke to Mark this morning, he was really keen, wanting to do it before he leaves, and was really excited about it...until he asked me whether I'd been christened. That's when it all went horribly wrong. Apparently because I have been christened, I can't be baptised by immersion (or actually in any way at all) because it's against the laws of the Anglican church. Great upset amongst many ensued (gotta laugh bout it or I'll start crying again) - Lani flipped out, and Leah wasn't far behind her which was sweet, coz she barely knows me, and Sarah and Jo seemed almost as upset as me...Mark was pretty gutted too, but those are the rules. I just really wanted him and Tim to do it coz they are the ones that have really changed everything for me...and I know Paul will do it like a shot at home in the summer, and obviously everyone can come, but it still won't be the same. Not all of my St Johns friends will be able to come...Lani could, and Sarah, and Jo, and probably Chris and Ben, and maybe the two Toms, and obviously Suz and Sacha, but still...my cell girls won't be able to be there...none of my non-church mates would make the trek to see it at home...it was just one of the worst pieces of news I've been given in a long time...I managed not to cry in front of Mark *smiles proudly* but only just...was crying by the time I got halfway up the aisle to Lani. I didn't realise just how much to me it meant until I found out it can't happen.
Anywho, trying to be philosophical about it all...that is the way of the good old Anglican church...and thats the way it has to be. Rachael and Sarah and James are trying to find any way around it, but I don't want to disrespect Mark - after all, without him, I probably wouldn't be making the decision anyway. I'm so glad I didn't tell Mum & Dad before, coz then I'd have to go throught the telling them it won't be happening...but I was so looking forward to just phoning them up and going "come to my baptism on XX day".
Wow. That was pretty intense *ponders* Have I beaten Sarah's IMMENSE blog from the other day?? I doubt it. Have I shocked a lot of my old friends by writing about what I believe so publicly?? I'd imagine so. Are my St John's Cru SO proud of me for doing all this and for what I at least tried to do?? SO much so it's unbelievable. And are Mum and Dad all emotional after reading this?? Well, lets just say if they were here now, I'd be getting a pat on the shoulder with a "Come on Fred, we'll sort it out" (which, for those of you who know my Dad is the surest fire way to make me cry - he only ever calls me Fred (which, before you ask, is a generic term of endearment and encouragement chez Robins) when I need some cheering up).
I'm not too sad, just dissapointed, but properly comforted by the love of my St Johns Cru and by the FANTASTIC day I had with you all. I love you guys so much.
I'm going to bed now before I get carried away *ponders* Is it slightly too late for that??

The Past Week In Lulu Land
Well, it's been a very quiet week, seeing as how I didn't have a voice for much of it, and I had just got it back when I got a bit carried away at Alpha and talked almost non-stop in the discussion...how did we get from Evil an Temptation to Predestination?? Probably a topic for another time...
Then when I got back from Alpha I was supposed to be going to Sarah's to watch the video of Holby from Tuesday, but when I got there, Ed was there watching Lost, so I came back here and MSN'd with Lani for AGES...tried to sort some stuff out, but it doesn't really feel like I got that far. I promised her I'd go and talk to Tim today, but at this precise moment in time, I'm feeling too ropey to leave my room (chest infection + an Asthmatic = fun fun fun). As I concisely explained it to John last night - can't stop coughing so take Ventolin, Ventolin makes me drowsy, try to sleep, but can't stop coughing. Oh the joy of it all.
I'm supposed to be doing Welcome at Cell tonight, with the inevitable trip to Medicine afterwards...I do want to go, but if I don't wake up and start feeling better during the day, the diea of staying in and curling up in bed to watch a DVD is sooooooo tempting....apparently we have "cell parents"...but I've never met ours...should probably try and do that soon...will do it on Sunday (aswell as talking to Mark...)
Hmmm, should probably cease this procrastinating and go and do some work - got half a novel and a whole Shakespeare play to read before tomorrow...clearly not going to happen, but might as well try my best!!

I've lost my voice...STOP LAUGHING!!!
I can't believe people find it so funny when I lose my voice and can't talk!! I don't talk that much...do I?? lol. Good job I'm in a good mood (30 hours sleep can do wonders for a person!!) Am now properly re-esconced (is that a word?? is now!!) in my cosy pit back at 'Swood (check my 'Swood cru...), chatting on MSN (as I do SO well) and procrastinating wildly...altho having been as ill as I was this weekend, I don't think working hard is the best plan of action (*ahem*)
Put loads of 'Dad' music on my MP3 player - Queen, Springsteen, The Floyd (although I've just discovered Wish You Were Here didn't work properly - TRAGEDY!!) and nicked some of my mum's stuff like Vangelis and Einaudi to bring a bit of culture to my student life...how cool am I?? (Not very, I hear you say...)
So far, this blog can't really compete with the class that is Lani's "Tales of the House of Spiders" but I'd like to think it comes pretty high up there...no?? oh ok, I'll go now then...
xx
And you'll be proud to know...
Look - two whole entries and no blogthings!! Lani would be shocked!! One day, I'll get down to the deep'n'meaningfuls, 'specially for my St Johns Cru - dunno how worth waiting for they'll be...but the weekend away changed a lot of stuff for me, so watch this space...

All is well in the Land of the Lulus
No, really. It is. Makes a change I know, but things do seem to be cruising along quite nicely. Lani has sorted me out in case it all goes horribly wrong again, but atm, tis all goose (don't ask) Had a kinda boring week really - haven't left the uni bubble at all, not even to go to Staines...I REALLY need to get out more. Had a good night last night though - went to Crosslands after Alpha, which was SO much fun, even if Ben didn't stop mocking me all night (JOKE!!) (Careless words an all that tho...think about it...then say it...lol) Got Cell tonight, which means Medicine afterwards. Which means ritual humiliation of me an Alice playing Pool with Chris an Lani...but secretly, me an Alice ROCK, we're just giving everyone else a chance *ahem*
Feel like I've been neglecting my Churcher's guys a bit recently, 'cept Beccybex and Menny...hope you are all :) and enjoying yourselves. You deserve to - we all worked hard enough (or otherwise, Yes Fletch, I mean you, Mr "I need EE to go to the Royal Northern") to get to where we are. BIG shout out an hugs to Jane - can't wait til I see you, an keep smiling coz we all love you LOADS!! Is this a picture moment??
Good times, good times. Miss you guys - we'll have to have another "sophisticated, grown-up" evening at Pizza Express (yes Nik, or ASK!) before Foggys or the Red...bring on Christmas!!
Don't have an appropriate photo for my St Johns cru, but bring on Sarah's party - will take TONNES (again)
Love you all!!

Long time no blog (which means long time no blogthings...)
Okies...did start to do a blog t'other day, but it got just that bit too deep and meaningful for the public arena, so I emailed it around instead!! lol. To those of you who got it - thankyou for you support. For those of you who didn't - don't worry your pretty little heads about it, there was nothing in it of interest to you.
Well, so, what have I been doing?? Reading Week presented its own unique challenges: what time to set the alarm for (is 11.30 too late)...How late to stay up before it is classified as an all-nighter...How many times I could justifiably avoid my reading...
I have been reliably informed that by my Third Year, I will gladly use my Reading Week for catching up on reading (cheers Luce, spoil my fun!!) but time alone will tell. Got my first piece of work back today anyway - 2:1, he didn't give any firsts, so I was quite chuffed. Love it.
Well well, what else?? went bowling with my St Johns cru (admittedly a rather slimline selection) but we got to Woking and back without getting stabbed, so overall, rather a success. Bring on Coral Reef (but I still don't have any swimming stuff!! Arrgh!!) Alpha on Weds evening, Reading yesterday (YAY!! Primark!! love it) even if I did get a bit (*ahem*) stressed out about the trains...
Thats about it really. Had some amazing talks to people this week, on MSN and face-to-face, and once again, Lani wins title of "most talked to" person of my week, although Jane comes a tied-close second with Tom (7 at North Tower...the time and date willl remain with me for ever...)
Love you guys

Slight overuse of blog...
Okies y'all. I've already been accused of being obsessed with my blog, but I do beg to differ. you know what I'm like, I get to stages sometimes where I can't talk about the things that are bothering me, and sometimes I just need to tell people, but I can't because I can't talk about it...Don't worry, this isn't gonna turn into a deep'n'meaningful blog, coz I'm not in that kind of mood (although I was at 2 AM this morning....should have done it then!!), I'm just feeling particularly close to some of you guys at the moment, and I don't want to not be able to tell you stuff...
Oh, just ignore my drivel

Sorry!! I know I said no more...
But it was so true!!
How You Are In Love |
You fall in love quickly and easily. And very often. You tend to give more than take in relationships. You tend to get very attached when you're with someone. You want to see your love all the time. You love your partner unconditionally and don't try to make them change. You are fickle and tend to fall out of love easily. You bounce from romance to romance. |

Your Power Color Is Magenta |
You energize yourself and push others to suceed. At Your Lowest: You feel frustrated and totally overwhelmed. In Love: You are suprised by who you attract. You're a love magnet. How You're Attractive: Open and free spirited, people want to explore the world with you. Your Eternal Question: "What is my next source of inspiration?" |

My New Blog!!
I blame Lani for this. If she had an MSN space instead of Bebo, I would never have been introduced to Bebo...and I would never have found Sarah's blogspot and then Lani's...and then REALLY wanted one for myself...is that wrong?? Not gonna launch straight into the deep and meaningfuls in this post (well, I'll try not too!), but I know I will at some point!! All this is to do is to say:
My school guys - The Prefects Room Gang!! I miss you guys...the photo (left) was the beginning to a top night, our last proper night as a group (that's not why it was so good...honest!! lol) You guys were special to me, you still are in so many ways...don't loose touch!!! (not getting deep, I promise)
And the other photo (right) is NOT for Nikleby's benefit!! It's just other memories of a top night, although the Hoemeister and Bev are pretty special people. He always put up with my tearful "I can't do Physics" moments and even when I'd given up Physics, he would always listen if I needed someone to talk to (That's not too deep, honest!)

I LOVE ALL YOU GUYS!!! WE HAD THE BEST TIME AT CHURCHER'S. MAKE SURE YOU STAY HAPPY AND ALWAYS KEEP SMILING!!!
My Uni guys - can't believe I've only known you for a month and a half!!! You are gonna be so special to me - you know how much I miss you when I'm away for the weekend!! You make me smile, you make me laugh, and you're always there when I cry (sorry, getting deep again!) We've had some top nights - Kingswood Karaoke Night, Rob's party, chick flick DVD nights...LONG may they continue.
And my last group (who belong in my Uni guys, but also need SPECIAL mention) are my St Johns guys!! You are SO special to me, you've completely included me in everything, been there for me when I'm down, and I know you are all always there for me. Student Group is great, Alpha is better, and my cell is gonna ROCK!! We just had the BEST weekend away - big up to my BESTEST roomies: Jo, Susie an Em - love you guys...and just need to say - Lani and Sarah: I can't believe all the stuff I've told you - I never talk like that with other people I've only just met!! You two are proper special and I love you (Last deep bit, I promise!!)
That's about it for now...just wanna say there are LOADS more photos of everything on my Bebo and my MSN, so go check 'em out!!!
Take Care!!!
Love
Lulu
